Kachemak Bay State Park and Beyond
Hike to a Glacier Lake

Hike to a Glacier Lake

The most popular hike in the park

The #1 hike in Kachemak Bay State Park is the Grewingk Glacier Trail. We provide transport from Homer to the Glacier Spit Trailhead and then pick you up at the Saddle Trailhead to return you to Homer at the end of the hike.

The highlight of the hike is reaching the shore at the base of the Grewingk Glacier Lake. The lake shore offers views of the icebergs that have calved off the face of the glacier and drifted to the foot of the lake. This vantage point also offers great views of the glacier itself further up the valley.

The hike is a comfortable half day trip approximately 1-2 hours to the lake and 1 hour from the lake to the pickup point. The hike can easily be made into a full day excursion by exploring additional spur trails.

Check out the aerial imagery below to better understand this cool hike.
